A Manchester restaurant has cheekily responded to a customer who left a one-star review by releasing its own merchandise inspired by their foul-mouthed comments.
The Hip Hop Chip Shop, on Blossom Street in Ancoats, was named the second best chippy in the UK earlier this year but it appears one customer was not as impressed with its offering.
In an online review, the customer - who gave their name as Geoff Lane - said the restaurant was ‘overpriced, overcooked and full of vegan k********’, before telling people to 'avoid'. Bosses at Hip Hop have since shared the review on their social media platforms with a tongue-in-cheek reaction to the comments.

The chip shop, which has a second store at the Etihad campus and just opened its third Manchester location at New Century, has revealed that it will give customers 20% off vegan orders this month in response to the fowl-mouthed review.
“If you whisper "I'm a vegan k*******" to your server I'll give you 20% off your vegan food items until the end of November. But DO NOT say it in the mirror three times because the pleasant spirit of Geoff Lane will appear and haunt you until you eat a Peperami.”
In a follow up post, the chippy has now decided to branch out into merchandise in aid of the In Place Of War charity, which supports music, theatre and arts projects that transform stories of violence into opportunities of hope and freedom.
Alongside mugs, aprons, tote bags and badges, there are also t-shirts boasting the ‘Vegan k********’ remark. On the Hip Hop Chip Shop page, bosses wrote: “Too far? Ah well, it took me about 27 minutes to do, technology and capitalism huh?”
On social media, followers shared their praise for the restaurant’s handling of the review. “Perfect response, one person said, while another remarked: "this is absolute social media perfection".
One person said: "now this is how you handle a bad review," with another saying: "this is why we love". Another questioned: "Why are some people so against vegans to the point of being weird."
Alongside your usual fish and chips, pies and battered sausages, Hip Hop Chip Shop also sells a range of vegan options including halloumi, battered banana blossoms, and chickpea and red pepper sausages.
