The manager of a country pub says he's living in fear for his life - after spooky, unexplained happenings have escalated in the historic inn. Nigel Ramsay took over the running of The Crown Inn in the idyllic village of Lower Peover, Cheshire, earlier this year.
But things literally went bump in the night for Nigel - when a metal bar over a doorway smashed into his head as he was working in the pub's beer cellar. The injury landed him in hospital with a bleed on the brain back in March.
After recovering from the trauma, he returned to the pub and thought nothing more of it at the time. But since then Nigel, 59. has been rocked by a series of "unexplained" happenings at the inn.

They include a stool he was standing on collapsing beneath him, and glasses starting to sway on their own under the bar tops. A TV remote also went flying across the bar and he says chairs have moved on their own.
Nigel mentioned the strange occurrences to Cheshire psychic medium Deborah Davies, who said she would come to the pub to conduct a ghost investigation alongside psychic Linzi Steer from Ghosts of Britain. And the results, broadcast live on Facebook earlier this week, have left Nigel terrified.
Former Real Housewives of Cheshire star Debbie, known as the "Ghost Whisperer", says she "had to go back and clear the place" after hearing the "most chilling EVP [electronic voice phenomenon recording] that I have ever heard in my entire life".
Deborah has advised Nigel that he should not be alone in the pub. They have looked into the history of the pub and the area and believe there is the ghost of a young girl who died 200 years ago in the village - and that she was murdered.
Deborah believes there is also the "nasty" ghost of a man who murdered the child stalking the pub - who is behind the spooky happenings to Nigel.
Moss Side-born Nigel explains: "I took over the pub in March this year, and in the first week I was in the back cellar and was closing the door on a Friday night and an iron bar fell down off a hook and hit me in the centre of the forehead.
"It caused me to have a bleed on the brain. I thought it was maybe just an accident at the time, but that was the start of the events.
"Since then we've seen regular glasses fly off onto the floor, the TV remote swept right across. We hear "shh shh" noises when we go through doors.
"We see glasses swinging on their own for no apparent reason."
After getting in touch with Deborah, Nigel began to conduct his own research into the pub and village history.
He said: "I found out that a young girl named Maria Rathbone died here in December 1821, Little Girl Lost was the story. She was basically sent to the shop in the frozen winter and got lost, and no one would let her in.
"She was found dead 400 yards from here still with bacon under her arm, she was just under 8 years old. A gentleman found her and had this dream that a girl was found under a holly bush. They found her, they had the inquest and wake for her in this pub.
"They found that she had perished to death. But when I sent this to Deborah Davies, she said she thinks the ghost is saying that she was murdered."
Nigel said the paranormal investigation shook him to the core. He said: "I'm a Roman Catholic, Christian - I go to church every week, so I didn't believe in this sort of thing at all, it's not my thing, but the investigation really changed my opinion on things. They had a voice recording and the little girl was saying she was murdered.
"It was kind of eerie, we heard lots of noises. But then the next day Deborah called and said "Nigel do not be on your own."
Nigel says it shook him up. "Before the investigation I thought it was a bit of fun. I've never physically seen a ghost, but ask me now and yeah, I'm kind of scared.
"Deborah says she wants to come back and help rid of the (nasty) ghost. She said in all the years of being a psychic it was the most frightening ghost she'd ever heard of."
The videos of the investigation have gone viral, and Nigel says that people are now messaging all the time asking if they can stay over at the pub to see the ghosts. "We don't have rooms, but we serve up food every night of the week for guests wanting to come and join us."
Deborah has since updated her followers on her Facebook page that since the investigation, she has been conducting some remote work to remove the "nasty" ghost. She says they recorded 11 ghosts in total during the investigation.
