Inside the illuminated animal trail that's taken over Knowsley Safari this Christmas
The festive event features light-up animals such as giraffes, penguins, zebras and polar bears
An illuminated animal trail has arrived at Knowsley Safari for the festive season.
We were among the first people to take a look inside the attraction as Enchanted opened to families at the weekend.
The park's real-life giraffes, tigers and hippos are safely tucked away for the event, replaced with glowing animals that line the paths.
This year includes some new features such as a new moving Rainbow Road, a walk through Arctic Arcadia featuring a Talking Tree and some new animal installations including an illuminated hippo submerged in the water.
Enchanted favourites have also returned, including the Winter Village, where families can toast marshmallows and enjoy the festive food from the various stalls. It's worth knowing that at the Loaded Doughnuts stand, you actually get three big ones with each order, which makes the £6 price tag very reasonable, especially given the amount of topping too.
There's a Street Food stall selling everything from Yorkshire pudding wraps and Bratwurst to burgers and chicken nuggets, as well as The Crumble Pot, selling a variety of fruit, crumbles and toppings.
At the start and end of the trail there are fairground rides for little ones to enjoy including swings and a pirate ship, tickets for which can be bought separately. And if you want to hang around there for a while, there's a kiosk separate to the Winter Village, selling fish and chips and the like.
Families get to follow a set path along the trail and it took us around an hour to get through the whole thing - including a donut stop along the way.
Inside the Winter Village there's a Santa's Workshop that you pass by, but you don't get to see Santa as part of the trail. Grotto tickets can be added on though if you're wanting that extra treat.
Enchanted runs from 4pm until 8pm, opening from November 24 to 26 and then daily from December 1 to 30. Selected Saturdays are sold out.
