A virtual reality motorbike ride, Pacman and virtual darts all share the same space at the brand new arcade in Bolton. The Game Vault opened its doors to punters last week and is already wowing visitors.
Inside a unit in the stylish basement of the Market Place Shopping Centre, visitors are met with the cyberpunk-like interior that boasts bright neon lights that signpost you to the brand new arcade. Once inside, customers are met with a number of arcade games to choose from that blend the worlds of retro and futuristic gaming.

From shooters inspired by the sci-fi classic Aliens, a Dance Dance revolution machine and racing simulators, to old age classics like a claw machine and air hockey, there is plenty to get stuck into.
The store isn't just a gaming shrine. It pays homage to all things entertainment, with movie posters and WWE favourites like the Undertaker adorned on red brick walls of the renovated unit.
The arcade is the brainchild of Bolton-based businessmen Craig Holden and Martin Pritchard. The pair planned to open Game Vault many years ago but their plans were scuppered due to the pandemic. Speaking to the MEN in September, Craig said: “We are like kids at Christmas with Game Vault and can’t wait to get started. It’s going to be an amazing addition to both the town centre and Market Place.
“Game Vault is somewhere where all of the family can have some fun together. We will be running high scoring competitions and we can also cater for team building events for businesses.
"We have many machines including virtual reality, pinball, retro and interactive darts. Game on!”
Game Vault is situated inside a 1,000sqft unit in The Vaults at the bottom of the Market Place Shopping Centre and features up to 30 machines.
