Royton
Royton, north west of Oldham, was the first town where a powered cotton mill was built - at Thorp in 1764 - and its past as a mill town is still evident today, although the remaining mills are used mainly for warehousing and engineering. The town was the birthplace of Radio 1 breakfast show host Nick Grimshaw.
