A Stockport hospice which reportedly saw its Facebook page deleted — because it allegedly violated rules on nudity with this photo - has had its presence restored.

St Ann’s Hospice, in Heald Green, had 18,000 followers on its Facebook page, before parent company Meta is said to have deleted it. The issue revolves around an image of people on a walk in countryside, the hospice said.

It posted the picture 'a couple of months ago', and Meta flagged posts by St Ann’s Hospice for ‘violating community standards due to adult nudity and sexual content’. Concerned staff members then spoke to Meta, who assured them ‘not to worry’, St Ann’s said.

Then, when a similar photo was posted by the page last week, it ‘was flagged again, but this time the page was deleted’, the charity said. Now, after the Manchester Evening News contacted the social media giant over the problem, Meta said it was 'removed by mistake and has now been restored.'

Gemma Peers, head of marketing and communications at St Ann’s Hospice, explained that losing the page came at a really important time of year. The run-up to Christmas is when the charity expects to drum up support for donations to keep its service running. There’s a double whammy this year, as the charity is also building a new hospice — and needs £2 million of donations to make it happen.

“We are at a really important time of year for fundraising for the hospice, with our Light up a Life services coming up soon at the beginning of December and our Christmas appeal launching as well,” said Gemma.

“Plus, we are at a really exciting stage for our plans to build a new hospice at Heald Green, with building work due to start in the new year. We are almost halfway to our milestone of raising £2m from our public fundraising appeal – Build it Together – to help fund this amazing new hospice for our patients and their loved ones."
