A tenth teenager has appeared in court after being charged with the murder of Kennie Carter. Kennie died in hospital after being stabbed in Stretford, Trafford, in January last year.

A 16-year-old boy was the latest to appear before a judge in connection with the case. Previously, Jabriel Ferguson, 18, of School Walk Old Trafford; and Rashaun Williams, also 18, were charged with murder. Seven other boys - two aged 14, three aged 15, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old - have also been charged with the same offence. They cannot be named for legal reasons.

The 16-year-old's case was heard at Manchester Crown Court this morning. He did not have to attend, and his case was adjourned to tie in with the other defendants.

A plea hearing was previously scheduled for next month, while a proposed trial was set for April next year.

Speaking in July on what would have been Kennie's 17th birthday, his mum Joan Dixon said: "I know he's not a baby but to me he's a baby, he's my youngest of four. I've got Kennie on my mind 24-7, right now while I'm talking to you Kennie's in my head, while I'm asleep Kennie's in my head, when I wake up Kennie's in my head.

"Every day is the same thing, we'll sit there, and I'm sat on the edge of my chair every day, and it's as if I'm waiting for something every day - to be told there's been a breakthrough or something. I still even think he's gonna walk through the door and it's all been just a real vile trick that's been played."
